CrossFit Games 2021 have arrived and many CrossFit Games 2021 competitors are thrilled. Apart from the usual men's and ladies' competitions, there will be some women's events. We're all familiar with the Reebok's equipment, the Pegboard contest, and the Cutting system. But what do we know about the womens' competition? Continue reading to learn more! Don't forget the CrossFit news page to get the latest information about the competition.
The competition for women
The 2021 Crossfit Games women's competition opened this morning with a swim event. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the first Games event by women. The women's side wanted to complete the podium.
The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. The field includes nine athletes. One of them is a 19-year old powerhouse, who won the Australian competition last year. Other contenders are Australian athlete Kara Saunders, who finished second in Australia and eleventh worldwide in 2020. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. These athletes will be joined by Sara Sigmundsdottir from Iceland, who was awarded the first place medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier in the year.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard at Crossfit Games 2020 was a first. It was added to the Games' summer Olympic program along with double-unders and dumbbell overhead squats. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. While there were many tie-breakers, ToomeyOrr's dominance was enough to win the contest.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. Competitors hold two wooden pegs between each hand and compete to win. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. It consists of 15 events so 30 athletes could be reduced after the seventh and eighth events. CrossFit must also answer the question of how it will adjust the points following cuts. The scoring table used during the 2019 games was almost identical to that used in 2021. It is likely that this will continue.
This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. The first six events result in major cuts. The field then drops to 75 athletes. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. From there, the top 20 athletes compete in the remaining six events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok has released new CrossFit Games shoes, clothing and equipment. The Nano X1 is the new shoe. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Reebok has billed this shoe as "the shoe of fitness," but it actually feels more like a traditional training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar fabric is used for the upper, which promotes breathability and durability. The shoe's responsiveness can be enhanced by its firm midsole and RopePro Tech.

CrossFit's agreement with Reebok will end at 2020. No title sponsor will be available for the Games. Reebok has sponsored the Games for more than a decade. It is now evident that their involvement in the Games will decrease. Reebok won’t pay for the Games’ prize, but they will continue to make all athletic apparel, equipment, and gear worn by athletes. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.

Is it true that overeating protein causes kidney stones?
Protein helps to maintain healthy bones, tissue, and skin. Consuming too much protein can result is calcium excretion via urine. In turn, this can result in kidney stones.
It's important to note that not everyone gets kidney stones after eating more than 2 grams of protein per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of body weight. High amounts of protein can be consumed by some people without causing kidney stones.
You can prevent kidney stones by watching your sodium consumption. The kidneys regulate the amount of sodium they consume. A high level of sodium can increase the risk of developing kidney stone.
You can also try reducing your protein intake if you get kidney stones. For most people, protein provides half their daily caloric requirements. Reduce your intake of protein and you will likely lose weight.
If you do decide to eat more protein, don't go overboard. Limit your intake to 20% of your total daily protein intake.
